If you are looking for drum lessons near Edgemont, you are close to my studio. I am Rudy Feinauer, a drum teacher based in Ardsley, a short drive from Edgemont. I am a New England Conservatory graduate with more than 35 years of teaching, and I work with students in person and online.

I teach kids age seven and up, teens, and adults picking it up for the first time. Styles run from rock and funk to jazz, Latin, and New Orleans second line. Lessons are built around what you actually want to play, not a one size fits all book.

What drum lessons cost

My private lessons start at $50 for a 30 minute session, with 45, 60, 90, and 120 minute options as a student grows. The first lesson is always free, with no commitment, so you can see if it is a fit before you pay anything.

Does your child need a drum set to start?

No. A practice pad and a pair of sticks are all that is needed for the first several months, and a pad is quiet enough that nobody in the house gets a headache. Students use a full kit during lessons, and we can talk about buying a set later, once the interest is clearly there.

NYSSMA and school music near Edgemont

Many Edgemont area students play in school band or take a NYSSMA solo. I am a former NYSSMA adjudicator, so I know what the scoring sheet rewards: steady tempo, clean dynamics, and confident sight reading. If your child has an evaluation coming up, I build a prep plan around the piece and the date.
